Amazing! Hopefully sometime this summer I will hit the west coast. A parental unit of mine moved to southern Oregon last year and I have yet to visit. Is that Jonah's mom in the raincoat?
AH.com: Yup!
Posted by: Eric Buth at April 28, 2008 12:11 PMYou might want to consider breaking this page up into multiple, somewhat smaller pages.
The fact that there's 90.7 megabytes of stuff on a single page detracts from the entire flow, due to a 5 minute download time even on 6mbps cable. (This size isn't an exaggeration, I cleared my cache, verified it was empty, then refreshed the page to determine the total size of the page) The HTML document alone is 658k, I'm not certain I've ever seen one that large.
You might want to consider not using in-line resized images as well. It decreases the performance of browsers, as each time you scroll up or down, it has to re-render the image, and it unnecessarily increases the file size.
Also, the fact that theres stuff from as far back as 2003 on one page just clutters it up as well.
(to put all this in perspective, a person with a good 7k/s dialup connection would be here for 3.6 hours just downloading everything on this one page)
Just a couple hints from a web developer!
AH.com: I have been wanting pagination for so long and for some reason it is elusive to me!!! Wanna do it for me??? :-)
