This week's New York Magazine takes on this momentous meditation with articles, interviews and columns worth reading.
What if the "New Yorker" was never published in February 1925? What if the Continental Congress decided not to publish the Declaration of Independence in July 1776? What if King John decided not to sign the "Magna Carta" in June 1215? What if the Shia/Sunni split never occurred between 632 and 656-ish?
While the article IS entertaining, it is ONLY entertainment. What is disturbing is that it pretends to represent non-fiction, which it has no claim doing so.
Stick to what this "collective and global" version of reality has known over the past five years and has experienced the impacts - then draw the conclusions... And shame on the world for thinking that a legitimate response to terrorism (i.e., the pursuing and curbing of defined terrorist elements) is the reason they should NOT respond.
If you let the fear of future and/or increased terrorist-proclaimed reprisals prevent you from responding, then the terrorists have already won; "Put a fork in you; you're... done." Simple logic there - and the terrorists know it. The question is, "Do we know it?"
This is a great Blog!
