Don't go to an Orthopedic doc. They are mainly the ones your ppo or HMO or general practioner will send you to just because the feet are bony and they are bone docs. Believe me a podiatrist that has specialized in surgery is who you want.
They spend all of their training on the foot and the foot alone. Many have put in hours doing specialized foot surgeries during and after residency.
An ortho guy can really jack u up especially if she/he hasn't done a fellowship in feet and hands. Which most haven't cause they have already spent most of their young lives in residency already.
Podiatry is the way to go! If you are ever in California there is a great doc. Look her up at:

Posted by: E&J at October 28, 2005 11:27 PMHi - I don't know you. I found your page because I did a google search for "maple syrup smell" because I'm trying to figure out why my apartment smelled like Canada the other night.
Anyway - I go to a great foot doc - he's Dr Robert H Singer - 62 W 45th St - 212-921-5775

This guy is a foot expert - I wish I could find a doctor like him for the rest of my body.
Good luck!
