Well, when you drink, it causes your blood vessels to expand.
When this happens, this can cause the following: stuff like chloresterol can be dislodged or find it more difficult to find a spot to stick to, it increases circulation because more red blood cells can go through the same arteries/veins, and it keeps the vessels themselves from being sticks-in-the-mud, keeps 'em limber.
For this reason, it is suggested that you have occaisional glasses of wine because it will help your heart stay healthy.

Correction: when you drink anything with significant amounts of ALCOHOL. Drinking large amounts of Grape Nehi or Orange Crush won't do anything other than increase your chances of contracting diabetes.
