Back from LA...

Highlights were hanging with my brother, meeting up with a friend I hadn't seen in 10 years (he was in the midst of a nasty break up of which he explained, "you can't just stay in a relationship because she got film rights to a Murakami novel!) and meeting the lovely and impressive Arianna Huffington!

oh and driving...until I got sick of it just in time to get back to NYC...

The almost vertical perspective of the Mexican Fan Palms (Washingtonia robusta) reminds me of Wang Chung's similarly titled theme song to the movie "To Live and Die in LA" - a classic.

For more information on the Mexican Fan Palm, please consult the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Services - Street Tree Selection Guide (http://www.lacity.org/BOSS/streettree/treeguide.htm). You know you're in the BIG time when you can support a web site such as this on government dollars...

And for more information on the lyrics to Wang Chung's "To Live and Die in LA", please consult with SongLyricsCollections (http://www.songlyricscollection.com/w/Wang%20Chung/to-live-and-die-in-l-a/to-live-and-die-in-l-a%20lyrics.htm).

Finally, for information on the air pollution that appears to obscure the sky in the lower right corner of the image, please consult with the City of Los Angeles - Environmental Affairs Department (http://www.lacity.org/ead/EADWeb-IssuesIndex/air.htm).

That movie was soo good it should have been nominated for an Oscar, and Letterman could have been the host. Can you see it, "William -- Willem; Willem -- William.

Willim pre-Elias and William many years pre "whatever the name of that cop show is that has fifty spinoffs" including one that stars the Big Apple and the great Gary Sinise who has not done a damned good thing since "The Grapes of Wrath."

Nonetheless, To Live and Die in LA is a great rental idea. Its gotta be twenty years old.

Long time looker, first time commenter. The quoted above wrote the following to me when I asked if this very specific quote was from him:

...that is indeed me. I was hoping to get a photo in her blog, but I guess I'll settle for a quote. I had dinner with her and her fiance the day after my night in [a very bad place] and right after they had met with Arianna Huffington- it was great to see her- she's an awesome person- fucking hilarious...

... Small world. I just had to spread the goodness!

Last night's edition of "The Bachelor" was especially cringe-inducing thanks to a contestant, Jamie, who looks like a brunette Blake Lively, and her attempt at salacious hail mary to win over Ben's affection. It ultimately sent her home.
The second annual White House Science Fair was today. Here are two pictures of President Obama launching marshmallows.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back up. McDonald's has brownies? BRB.
